ABOUT US

Located above the town of Haslingden in Lancashire, the Rossendale and Hyndburn Model Aircraft Club (RHMAC) sits on an enviable site amongst open fields just behind one the areas most famous attractions ‘the halo’.

The flying field is positioned far away from any main roads, commercial or residential buildings, an ideal spot for everyone to take part in the hobby from total novices who have never flown through to experienced club flyers.

RHMAC is a registered club with the BMFA (British Model Flying Association) and as such have experienced pilots who are available to help train enthusiastic newcomers, easing their entry into the hobby. Many members have completed their BMFA ‘A’  and ‘B’ tests, the club also has members who are qualified instructors and can therefore conduct the tests within the club.

All are welcome to come up to the field and have a chat and, if interested, have a go on the club’s trainer - buddied up with one of experienced members just in case (or rather when) you lose control on your first flight! In fact if you are considering starting to fly model aircraft, an initial visit would be time well spent before spending a lot of money on potentially the wrong equipment to start out with. Members have years and years of experience and are more than willing to share it and help any new pilots find their wings!

RHMAC have recently laid a new pathway down to the flying strip which enables anyone who requires a wheelchair or has impaired mobility easy access from the parking area. Further plans are in the pipeline and we are seeking lottery funding to further our plans in this respect.
